Parks Day

I can’t believe it has already been more than a week since I was out in Fishcreek Park enjoying the annual Parks Day. This year the event was combined with Creekfestl. There were a lot of people out enjoying the sun and the music as well as using the pathways. There were many organizations spreading information about nature and the environment.

Alberta Parks Push to Open nature ambassadors (that’s  me) were out showing off the Park Explorer and the trailrider to incite people to get outdoors and enjoy the many trails to be found.

Getting closer to nature is good for everyone’s health.

I had a blast, until the thunderstorm hit. We stayed relatively dry and luckily I had on enough layers not to get too chilled until my ride came.

Rainy week blues

It has been raining, hailing and just plain cool temps this week. I am impressed that I see people, via computer, still out in the mountains hiking. I am much too wimpy for that. I have been enjoying the lightning storms from my window though.  My scorched trees (from a fire we had this spring) love the moisture, and the grass and new treelets have greened up immensely.

The darkness from the ever looming thunderclouds doesn’t incite much joy. I am waiting for the clear up and a chance to go hiking next week. Although there is darkness, the sound of rain is so soothing. Nature is a contradiction. Destructive power and beauty wrapped up in one thing.
